I have been so busy with work and packing and everything lately I haven't had time to eat, sleep, or breathe, much less update. Many apologies!!!
About the only thing I have heard recently was an interesting news story from the BBC about "global dimming." It's not a trick or tip, but it is intriguing and helps open our eyes to why we should be working on these things in the first place.
It also makes a frightening point: the cause of global dimming is pollution particles in the atmosphere, which are obscuring the amount of sunlight the earth receives. You would think this would lead to a cooler climate, yes? Well, it does. The problem is greenhouse gases. They're warming the earth by trapping the sun's energy while the pollution is cooling it.
See the problem?
If we get rid of substantial amounts of the pollution, the balance is destroyed and we actually INCREASE global warming, because there's more energy from the sun to be trapped. But if we get rid of many greenhouse gases first, the climate cools because there's still less sunlight.
What to do, what to do?
I'd go with focusing on greenhouse gases first and foremost, wouldn't you?
There are other problems, too, but that one is really the most striking to me. You can read the entire story here. I would definitely recommend it, it's a very interesting read.
